This course will explore student learning assessment principles and techniques for both in-class and online courses and instruction. This course will start off exploring what student learning assessment is and why it is important for library instruction. Reviewing writing measurable learning outcomes will also be discussed. We will cover classroom assessment techniques such 3-2-1s, one-minute papers, concept maps, jigsaws, and think-pair-shares. We will also discuss how to measure learning based on these classroom activities with rubrics. Participants will end this course with a student learning assessment plan to incorporate into a class or instruction session. We will focus on formative assessment in this course.
