Short videos introducing patrons to a public library’s ebook platform, interactive tutorials helping high school students learn how to evaluate sources, a podcast series addressing copyright basics for college faculty—these are all examples of digital learning objects (DLOs) that libraries have created to support members of their communities. During this four-week course, you’ll have the opportunity to propose and develop a DLO, perhaps something that you think might be useful at your own library. Along the way, you’ll explore and apply relevant topics such as learning technologies, instructional design, inclusive practices, accessibility, assessment, and DLO maintenance, as well as receive helpful feedback on drafts of your in-progress DLO. Please feel free to reach out to the instructor (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions about the course.
